Sunday morning was mass hair cutting time. Because of the boy's wiry hair we use the clippers on all of them. Micah gets a 2 on the side 4 on the top. Ben gets a 1 on the side 3 on the top. And our friend Isaac gets a 2 all over. We have just gone with what works. They are much more cooperative now that they are a little bit older and Popsicle bribes always help. Especially when they get two, one for each hand and can eat them in the shower.
Well I had finished with Ben and Micah and started on Isaac's mass of hair. It was long people. I probably cut off 2 1/2 inches. The first buzz I did I all of a sudden noticed this flesh colored thing hanging off his skull in the back. Of course I screamed and told Ben he better get in here. Yes people it was our first tick. Can I just say EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. Thank goodness it wasn't very big yet, meaning not a lot of Isaac's blood had been sucked. Ben and I looked at each other and where like, "Ok what do we do?" after living in Utah for forever I had never encountered a tick. You would think that since Ben grew up here he would know what to do. Nope we just stared at each other. Finally we remembered something about a burnt match. Well that just made the tick mad. Ben Finally just took tweezers and riped it out. "Is his head out? wait what does it's head look like?" Yeah so we looked online. Yuck, the pictures were gross. So all I have to say is, we are no longer going outside. Nature has encroached and we are retreating. Of course yesterday the boys spent most of the day outside. I guess I will just have to be a tick vigilanti.

hahaha, ewwwwwwww! I HATE ticks! I had never encountered them until we moved to TN... where they are basically the state insect. They are right up there with spiders on my 'nastiest creature alive" list. Happy hunting!
Ewwwwww! That is pretty gross. I'm sorry you have to deal with them. That post made me get a gross feeling even from just reading it. I can imagine that the pictures were just plain sick.
Yikes! My long, long comment was deleted! The big ticks aren't dangerous like the little ones, so that is something to be thankful for. We've had too much lyme disease here so we don't fret over the dog ticks.
Our first tick experience was traumatic though. Avery had been sick for a few days- fever, puking, etc. I was lying in bed one night(7months pregnant with the twins)tryng to get some sleep while rubbing her hair and picking out bits of banana puke. One stubborn piece of puke, about the size of a large grape, wouldn't budge. When I finally grabbed the flashlight and looked I saw it was a nasty little bugger who had been feeding for a some time. I'd been playing with it!
Did you run Issac's over with the buzzer? You'd be suprised how much blood they can hold!
