I once read a short article (I can no longer find) about how comic books reflect society. The gist was the in the '50s and '60s people were very afraid of radiation and this spawned comic book heroes like Spider Man who gained his super powers after being bitten by a radioactive spider and The Hulk whose body transformed after absorbing green gamma radiation. Now that we've got a better handle on what radiation is and how to control it these sorts of concerns are less relevant. What is relevant however is communicable diseases. Higher population densities make people worried about disease and we end up with a host of media about zombie spawning pandemics and vampire societies.
Why do I bring this up? Because we've been sick for over 6 weeks now with variations of coughs, runny noses, and low-grade fevers. Just when we think we're getting over it someone else starts coughing in their sleep or spitting up phlegm wads. It's not the zombie apocalypse yet I'm ready to move to a survivor camp in the hills until we're all better.

O K , so jump in bed cover up your head, but root for the Patriots on Monday night.
I'm sorry you've been sick! It has to end soon! I just got over a cough that lasted almost 6 weeks!
